Christmas 2011

This was our second Christmas together and I have to say it was a pretty amazing. Nothing special and I didn't even take pictures...(shame on me! I'm already regretting it.) But this is how it went. We went over to my parents house on Christmas eve to have exchange the sibling gifts. We use to draw names but, as the family has spread out and grown a little bit more, Mom put us on a rotation instead. So every year for as long as I can remember we would open the sibling gift on Christmas Eve. So I'm glad we can continue this tradition for a little while longer. My brother Michael had us this year and gave us two different kinds of potato mashers! (I've been wanting on for forever!) and a 50 dollar gift card to a sea food restaurant! Michael and I have deiced to spread it out into 2 dates. I'm very excited!!
We slept over at my parents house (thanks Kristie for lending us your bed!) When we woke up at about 7:30 (fairly early for a house full of adults) we started making breakfast. The presents had to wait because we were waiting for my brother Michael to come over from his place and someone silly (me) told him 9 o'clock. But we ended up making  a very yummy breakfast of eggs, bacon, and waffles with caramel. My dad heard that caramel syrup (the stuff you drizzle on ice cream) was good on waffles. So we tried it out and it wasn't half bad.
My brother showed up at about 8:30 (YEA!) and we opened presents! This year me and Michael couldn't do anything to exciting because we were so broke. But thanks to credit card points we were able to have something under the tree. We ordered some books from Amazon for Mike (he finished both of them in about a week before he had to go back to school) and we have a gift card to the movies. Mike said I could have a gift card to go get some clothes. And then I found out he spoiled me. While he was out, with my dad, buying things to change the oil on our cars he picked me up another gift. I've been saying how I've wanted a nice purse to take with me when we go on dates or to other nice events. He managed to find me one. And I love it!!! We then went and listened to my mother preform in her choir program and spent the rest of the day lazing about.
And that was our Christmas!
Even though we spent Christmas at my parents we did manage to decorate our apartment. At least a little. My mother lent the the decorations and I think they turned out nice.

Fun random decorations on top of our book cases.

My mother's spear nativity set. Joseph is missing.
So we just say he is out side standing watch !

My grandmother gave me this Santa Clauses from around the world.
It was fun to be able to put them up in my own home this year.

Our tree. It may look sad with no ornaments. And that's because it is.
Some how we never got around to really decorating it. So we ended up putting our
Christmas cards on it instead. I think when all is said and done it wasn't to bad.

See we got the lights on it! The lights are the most magical part i n my opinion .
So at least we got that part done!

  1. That's ok. Mine and Jesse's first christmas, we had a beanie baby turkey as our star... and a 1.00 box of ornaments. We even bought our tree for $15 at D.I.
